Reg Howard-Smith

reg-howard-smithReg Howard-Smith is the Chief Executive of The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME).  Reg was appointed to the role of Chief Executive in 2007.

CME is the preeminent resource sector (Mining, Oil and Gas) industry association in Western Australia. Members of the CME account for 95% of the production of Minerals and Energy produced in West Australia. Resource sector exports from West Australia account for 90% of the states merchandise exports.  CME focuses on representing members in a broad range of policy issues including Safety & Health, Economics, Infrastructure, Taxation, Environment, Land Access, and People Strategies.

Prior to being appointed Chief Executive, Reg was a Director of CME from 2002 to 2007.  Reg has worked in Oil and Gas, Mining, state and national advocacy positions in employee relations.

He is a member of the Curtin University Graduate School of Management Advisory Board and the Australian Super (Westscheme Division) Advisory Board, a Trustee of the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Industrial Relations Society of Western Australia and Chair of the Australia India Business Council Advisory Committee.  Reg is a graduate of The University of Western Australia, majoring in Economics.
